Reason & Ruckus is a unique hybrid space in downtown Poughkeepsie that’s part bar, part art space, and all about community. Spanning several rooms and levels (including a game room with vintage arcades and pool), R&R hosts weekly events ranging from live punk shows and DJ dance nights to open-mic comedy, drag performances, and art battles. The walls double as a gallery for local artists, and the bar serves up craft cocktails, local brews, and inventive theme drinks. Co-owners Ovid Reichelt and Meaghan Myers envisioned R&R as a place to “shake things up” in Poughkeepsie – a creative hub where artists, musicians, and neighbors mingle freely. The result is a colorful, ever-evolving gathering place (with 100+ pieces of art on display) that has quickly become the heartbeat of Poughkeepsie’s night scene.
