About Cambridge Studio - What Artists Do All Day

Artist Carolyn DiFiori Hopkins

Cambridge Studio is the working studio of artist Carolyn DiFiori Hopkins, located in Albany, New York. For nearly five decades Hopkins has maintained an active practice as both a painter and educator, creating atmospheric works that explore landscape, memory, and the quiet drama of the natural world.

Her paintings often emerge from long observation of the forests, skies, and shifting light of the Northeast. Layers of color, gesture, and texture build luminous spaces where trees, weather, and horizon lines become both place and metaphor.

In addition to her studio practice, Hopkins teaches small workshops and private studies that invite artists to deepen their relationship with materials, observation, and contemporary painting. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that the studio is a place of daily practice where curiosity, experimentation, and sustained attention shape the work over time.

The studio also serves as a gathering place for artists interested in exploring what artists truly do all day: looking, thinking, making, and returning again to the work.
