Hey all. @Eli Walker and I have been scheming to start a monthly casual storytelling circle. No stage - just practice telling some of the interesting stories from our strange lives, in a judgement-free zone.

What: A casual monthly gathering for storytellers to share 5-7 minute real stories on a theme. No stage—just a campfire-style circle of funny, interesting, and weird tales from our lives. October's theme is "Spooky".

How it works: First 10 to sign up share their stories; everyone welcome to attend. Bring your own drink if you'd like—alcohol welcome in moderation.

Where: 950 Wolcott Ave, Beacon (Parking on Chestnut St) - Inside the cottage at the end of the driveway.

When: October 27th, and every last Monday of every month, 7-9pm
Sign up here if you’re interested. https://forms.gle/ZWDxC8w9CZy7dZPC6

Come to newburgh’s first ever fringe festival this weekend!

Also! My cousin Darlene Costello wrote and is producing/directing these two plays!

They’ll both be performed at each time slot:
Sunday October 26th at 2pm and 7pm.

Woke Pope:

In unprecedented times, we are watching the dismantling of humanitarian efforts and the forsaking of democracy and decency in the U.S.A. One wonders: Who can take down a man who keeps getting away with the worst profiteering, cruelty and ignorance of any recent world leader – Could it be the ‘wokest’ of Popes, Leo – borne on our better angels?? A political send-up of our fight to preserve humanity, as democracy is shaken to its core – and an interrogation of ‘wokeness’ as the true meaning of Christianity…

“Jesus Christ was the first non-violent revolutionary” – David Crosby

https://secure.qgiv.com/for/newburghfringefestival/event/wokepope/

Sundowners:

A lesbian horror fantasia about aging, empowerment, and supernatural will. Maggie sundowns as Alice guides them to relative freedom from the institutionalized confines in which they appear to be trapped. This concept and work in progress is a potential series of short plays – here I bring you its first manifestation.

Hey everyone! My name’s liv. and I’m a singer-songwriter based out of Staatsburg! I’m currently working on my 3rd record, and I’m looking for someone or multiple people who could create a cartoon music video and a comic-book styled lyric booklet! Would really like to use someone local! Please reach out if this is something you’d be interested in!

Hi there - looking for suggestions where to work for a few hours near Kingston / Woodstock. Preferably somewhere that just requires a small purchase not a coworking space with a membership….thanks!

Hello... Ok, I need recommendations. I'm looking for someone in the Capital Region to do seat pillows for chairs. I'm currently working with Calico (Chappaqqua), but would love to have a name or two of places a little closer (Greene & Columbia County or Albany). Figure there may be someone here that knows an interior design/upholster place. Thanks!

Ready to join the conversation? Enter the Slack community below.

What is Slack?

Slack is a chat platform, similar to Discord or Microsoft Teams or old-school IRC. It's meant to be used by businesses for team communication, but we're using it as a community platform. We picked Slack by popular request and it's worked out pretty well so far.

What's the difference between the Slack and the directory?

The directory allows you to showcase your work and find local creatives and professionals. The Slack is a chat platform for the community with active conversation happening all the time. They complement each other, and both are useful!

Why should I join?

Over 1,800 local creatives and professionals are in the group, connecting with each other and sharing opportunities. People are finding work, hiring locally, sharing resources, launching new projects, and generally being a community that's authentic and human rather than the opposite.

What's the vibe?

Conversation in the Slack is casual and human. There are lots of people introducing themselves, asking for recommendations, hiring people and sharing that they're ready to be hired, and announcing new events or projects. (And it's totally fine to just lurk, too!)
