Hi everyone,

Thought I would do an introductory post.

My name is Becca Van K and I make ZAPWARE! I know I have a short bio, but here is a bit more about the brand:

ZAPWARE bridges the gap between fashion-forward design and functional bug protection. Born from a blend of fiber art, rave culture, and a deep love for the outdoors, ZAPWARE is a culmination of all of my interests: fiber art, hiking, fiber, raving, foraging, camping, and gardening. My goal is to create garments that can serve buyers well in all areas of their lives, whether they want a set for days in the garden, a cookout with friends, or a trail hike. With an understanding of the prevalence of tick-borne illness in the area, and being tired of covering myself head-to-toe with bug spray and ill-fitting bug wear, I decided to sew clothing for myself and my community. ZAPWARE is hand-sewn in the Catskills with all biting insects in mind.

The product line currently consists of a mesh hooded top and pants. The aesthetic is informed by my years in the New York rave scene. Every garment is handmade by me from scratch at my home in the Catskills. Keeping garment production local and handmade is of the utmost importance to me. ZAPWARE is a direct reflection of the challenges and magic of our specific terroir. My hope is for my product line to give customers the opportunity to enjoy the transcendent beauty of nature in the Hudson Valley and Catskills, while being safe from its greatest threat to our health.
