Over 200,000 Hudson Valley residents rely on SNAP to help close the gap and keep themselves fed. A large percentage of those are children, seniors, and veterans.
SNAP benefits are going to be suspended starting November 1, and many of us (and our friends and neighbors) will be impacted. New York State has declared a state of emergency, which will unlock $100 million in emergency food assistance, but that won't make up for the full $650 million needed to backfill SNAP for the month.
